Hey, I’m Kayla!
I have a passion for all things middle school science. I have a Ph.D. in STEM Education with a focus in science education, and I’ve taught at the elementary, middle school, community college and university level — but my heart lies in middle school.
Along the way I’ve been a university supervisor for student teachers, a cooperating teacher, and a STEM Coordinator in a middle school, and I’ve researched and published on teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge. All of that goes into the resources here: rigorous, relevant and engaging, and built to reduce cognitive load so students remember the science for life, not just for the test.
Today I’m a STEM teacher, content creator, curriculum designer and mentor for middle school science teachers — which means I get to share every lesson, activity and strategy I’ve built with teachers like you.
