Interactive lessons can be used in so many ways. They can be used for independent note-taking, direct instruction, and they can even be used in science stations in your classroom.
I love doing science stations, or as you may call them, science centers, because they allow for students to have a chance to review or learn in a variety of ways.
There is not only ONE way to use these interactive lessons for stations.
Here are 3 ways that they can be useful for your classroom.
This is especially GREAT if you have testing coming up soon!

Use a Lesson as a Review Station
As you are setting up review stations in your classroom before a test, or just to review content, you can use one of the interactive lessons as a station along with some other stations in your classroom.
When I set up these science stations or science centers, I like to set up 3 stations, but DOUBLE them, so that there are 6 groups in the room.
Here are some examples of stations you can use in your classroom.
Example #1:
Let’s say that you need to review the layers of the atmosphere. Here are the three stations you could set up.
- Layers of the Atmosphere Interactive Lesson
- Vocabulary Matching
- Graphing Atmospheric Temperature Station
Here are some more ideas for teaching the layers of the atmosphere.
Example #2:
Let’s say that you need to review Newton’s Laws. Here are the three stations you could set up.
- Newton’s Laws Interactive Lesson
- Inertia Demonstration Station
- Spring Scale Station
Here are some more ideas for teaching Newton’s Laws.
All Activities in One Station
Another thing that you can do is create your own activity (using the interactive lessons) to use as a station.
What do I mean? In interactive lessons, there are embedded activities in the lesson. You copy and paste different activities from different lessons to create the ultimate review lesson that includes all of the activities that they’ll need to be successful in review.
You could include 5 activities, 10 activities, or even 20! It’s up to you and how long you need the science station to last.
- So, you could grab all lessons in a unit such as the waves interactive lessons.
- Then, you could make a NEW Google Slides presentation.
- You can copy the embedded questions from the Mechanical and Electromagnetic Waves Lesson, Properties of Waves Lesson, Wave Behaviors Lesson, etc.
- You can paste all questions into this new presentation to make the ultimate waves review document for you science station!

Multiple Lessons in Multiple Stations
Maybe you are about to do a big unit test or an end -of-year test, and you have a LOT to review. You could have a different interactive lesson at each station that students could work through together as a group.
Example #1
Say you need to review for the whole atmosphere unit.
You could have the following stations:
- Layers of the Atmosphere Interactive Lesson
- Air Masses and Fronts Interactive Lesson
- Convection in the Atmosphere Interactive Lesson
You can choose whichever lessons your students need the most.
Example #2
Say you need to review for the whole ecosystems unit.
You could have the following stations:
- Ecological Relationships Interactive Lesson
- Energy Flow Interactive Lesson
- Cycling Matter Interactive Lesson
As mentioned before, you can use any lessons that your students need and any amount dependent on the time that you have to review!
Enjoy using interactive lessons as part of your science stations in your middle school science classroom!
