In this ultimate guide, I will share fifteen fabulous science gift ideas for kids. Each and every one will make them so happy and spark their interest in learning, but it’s disguised by awesome fun!
So, if you’re a science teacher or just someone who loves science, your family and friends already know this, and if you’re like me, you buy science-related gifts quite often. I’m just here to give you some ideas. Christmas is coming soon! Check out these cool science gift ideas!

Snap Circuits Jr.
One of the best ways to introduce children to electronics is through Snap Circuits Junior.
It’s a great gift to keep in the classroom and at home! This is a great way, and a FUN way to learn about electricity.
For the kids, I like the Snap Circuits Jr., but the brand has a lot to choose from. There are over 100+ projects.
This kits helps kids learn the basics of circuitry in a fun, hands-on, and safe way!
The instruction booklet is so easy to follow! They can create projects such as alarms, light switches, and more! This is perfect for all kids, but especially those science-loving children and budding engineers!
This particular one is recommended for ages 8+. If you read above, you’ll notice that my kids aren’t this old yet!
That doesn’t matter! We’ve worked with our boys to help them to explore!

Butterfly Garden Kit
This gift is SO much fun! My boys got this last Christmas, and because you can order your caterpillars at any time, we waited for the weather to warm up some.
You get 5 baby caterpillars. You get to watch them grow and go through metamorphosis! It’s an amazing process, and then you will have your own butterflies (Painted Lady).
All five of ours became butterflies, and we released them outside after a day or two.
*I do want to add that one of our caterpillars went rogue and didn’t create his chrysalis on the top of the container like the others. Long story short, he had a broken wing, so we kept him safe in the net during his lifespan!
I felt sorry for the little butterfly, but it was a good lesson for my kids. We took good care of him! This is one of my favorite science gift ideas! I’ve already purchased this for someone else this year.

Kids Microscope
Oh, I love microscopes! It’s so cool to look at teeny tiny things that you don’t see just looking around. For the aspiring scientist in your life, this makes the perfect gift!
This particular microscope is designed for young kids. It’s very durable and easy to use. This set is a beginner set with 52 pieces including prepared slides, a carrying case, a petri dish, tweezers, and so much more. It even comes with brine shrimp eggs! How cool.
There are blank slides as well to encourage a love of biology as children can explore leaves, insects, cells, or whatever their heart desires. So much fun! My kids have this too!

Marble Run
Now this is a winner. Marble runs are so much fun, but they can also help kids learn lessons in physics and engineering. There are connectors, tracks, tricks and more. They challenge children to design their own fun “obstacle course” for the marbles.
The more they create, the more excited they are to create more!
Personally, I got this for my boys last Christmas, and out of a million toys, they get this one out a lot! Once again, this is one of my favorite science gift ideas!

Book of Paper Airplanes
Who doesn’t love paper airplanes? Even if the kids in your life aren’t fans of aviation, there is something about the art of paper folding that kids love!
This particular book is organized so well. You don’t even have to tear the paper out. It’s placed in a nice envelope and it’s easy to just pull the paper for the airplane out. The instructions are also so easy to follow! The pages are coated, and the book is spiral bound. It’s great quality and so much fun for kids.
This is another gift my boys have received. They love it!

Glow in the Dark Space Blanket
Take bedtime to a new level with this awesome blanket. Who remembers those glow-in-the-dark stars? They were awesome (and still are), but so is this blanket. My kids have this and the glow-in-the-dark starts too!
Transform a child’s room into a captivating galaxy of stars. They will fall asleep and will be inspired to dream big and reach for the stars. Ok, that sounded funny, but really, kids love everything glow in the dark!

Lab Costume
Kids of all ages love to dress up. I’m including myself in that statement as well. Why not let them dress in lab gear? It will be amazing to see the creativity in their play.
Complete with a name tag lanyard, goggles, lab coat, and a magnifying class, this costume enhances the joy of playing the role of a scientist and experimenting!

The Animal Book
This is another gift that we got our boys for Christmas. Of course, my love for science has rubbed off on them. One of the things that most interests them is animals.
I love this book. It is so colorful, beautiful, and filled with amazing animals.
I love that it includes things such as fungi and invertebrates. It helps kids realize that there are things such as mushrooms and sponges that are alive!
One of my favorite science gift ideas!

Science Snippets
This is in my cart as we speak! For kids that love science, this is the perfect gift. Just looking at the cover, these are questions that my kids ask!
This particular one deals with the human body. This is a fun way for kids to learn a little bit more about themselves!

AcuRite What-to-Wear Weather Station
This is another item on my “to buy” list! I cannot be the only one with this problem…I have a child that refuses to wear clothes that fits the weather. If it’s cold outside, he wants to wear shorts. If it’s hot outside, he wants to wear pants!
With this, he can make his own decisions in regard to what he wears, and in the process he’s learning! He’s learning about temperature, time, dates, what clothes he needs to wear, and more.
The reviews are great, so I’m excited about this purchase! I’m definitely making sure this make the science gift ideas list!

3-D Pen
Do you know any children that love to create? This is a cool way let their creativity shine!
This is another gift I’m adding to my cart. My boys have made up their own characters. They are like dinosaurs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Pokémon combined!
Of course, they LOVE them, but you can’t find figurines or anything anywhere! They only have their drawings.
With this, they can make their characters come to life. I’m so excited to get this for them!

Sphero Indi Kit
Recently, we went to a STEM event in a local town where they had booths set up with different science and STEM things. One booth had this kit.
My boy is 6 years old, and I never thought that he would leave this booth.
Each color represents a different task you want the little Sphero car to do. Kids need to place the color mats in a particular order to get the car to go.
My personal favorite is the “celebration”.
If you know a kid who love science and is just learning to code, this is the perfect gift!

Super Gross Chemistry Set
If you’ve made it this far, you know that I have boys.
So, enough said about this gift!
Buy this for the science-loving boys in your life.

Space Projector
My boys have had this for years and have loved it!
It’s like a special treat to get this out and check out the planets, galaxies, and more! Just turn out the lights, and project this on the wall.
Their favorite part is the pivoting star projection. They love to crank up the music and have a dance party with this!

Stocking Stuffer – Wikki Stix
Here’s an extra gift idea! I am ALWAYS looking for stocking stuffers that are fun and that are NOT junk! I learned about these Wikki Stix the other day and have already purchased some for stocking stuffers!
They are bendable, wax-coated sticks that can be shaped into so many different things. They can be used so make shapes, models, pictures, and so much more. They are great to bring to a restaurant for children to play with while waiting for their food. Throwing a Christmas party? They are also great for party favors.
They will also entertain children during all the holiday travel. There are so many uses! I’m so glad I discovered these!
