Are you looking for fun ways to teach distance-time graphs? One of my favorite topics to teach my students is distance-time graphs! But what I have found over the years is that my students need multiple exposures to distance-time graphs and not just working on a distance-time graph worksheet. They tend to get so confused about them so I love having multiple ways to teach and review distance-time graphs! Here are some of my favorite ways to teach distance-time graphs to my students and I hope they’ll bring some new or fresh ideas to your science classroom!

Teach Distance-Time Graphs with Interactive Digital Lessons
This is the year for digital lessons, am I right? I originally created digital lessons for face-to-face and they incorporated a lot of interaction! But when we shifted to distance learning, having digital lessons and notes for students both at home and in school has been a lifesaver! Some of my favorite digital lessons to use for teaching distance time are linked here!
Story-Match
Story matching activities are a great way to challenge students! These activities push my students to apply what they have learned about distance-time graphs! Students are given real-life situations and stories about distance and time. It’s their job to match the story to the graph. It’s important for students to understand distance-time graphs and how motion is graphed. This helps them to distinguish how they are graphed together in a super fun and engaging activity! I also love using these as an engaging activity during the holidays! Check out this Christmas theme and Valentine’s Day theme! If you’re looking for a review or assessment, this story match activity can be used in both print and digital.
Distance-Time Graphs Task Cards
Task cards are great for differentiation and my students love them! Task cards are cards that have tasks for students to complete. Students can record their answers or complete the tasks in their notebooks, on a pre-created answer sheet, on whiteboards, and more. The possibilities are truly endless and that’s why I love using them in my classroom! You can set up task cards in so many ways to keep it fresh and exciting for your students. Some of my favorite ways to have my students complete task card activities are “around the room,” centers, early finishers or even for an assessment! Task cards are so versatile and a great way to incorporate movement in the classroom!

Write Your Own
There’s no better way to assess if my students have mastered distance-time graphs than having them write their own scenarios! You can provide pictures of graphs and have your students create the written part of the graph. My students love using their creativity to write up their own scenarios and it shows me whether they are able to apply what they have learned. These are great for my early finishers or students who like a challenge! You can create your own graphs or you can use this resource to get started!
Have you ever wondered how to bring the WOW Factor to your science classroom?

looks fantastic thank you so much
